Festivals and summer go together like white wine and seafood pasta…they perfectly complement each other. Summer 2018 festivals have a wide range of themes that can fulfill your need to go outside and enjoy the gorgeous weather!
1. Vintage Ohio Wine Festival
Every first Friday and Saturday of August the hills of Lake Farmpark are filled with artisans, food trucks, music and wine. All five of your senses are in for a treat at this annual wine festival, guaranteed to make a wine connoisseur out of even the strictest of beer lovers (but no worries if you do prefer hops, there will be craft beers served too).
2. Incuya Festival
Is rock-n-roll more your style? Cleveland is considered the birthplace of rock-and-roll and home to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Come out and celebrate the evolution of this timeless music movement at The Malls in Downtown Cleveland. This year’s line-up is as diverse as the city’s roots, and not to be missed. Mark your calendars for August 25th-26th and get your tickets here!
3. Labor Day Oktoberfest
This four-day festival rounds out summer from August 31st to September 3rd with one of the largest turnouts in northeast Ohio. Activities range from micro-brew and German strongman competitions, sand-sculpting displays, and hundreds of opportunities to sample amazing German foods!
Take a stay-cation in Little Italy
Of course we make sure to visit Little Italy. With such a gem of culture and amazing foods, this space is easily one of our favorite areas. Established in 1855, it is one of the most romantic places to spend your summer evenings.
4. Summer Art Walk
Little Italy knows its art and culture. Admire pieces from Cleveland’s finest artisans and galleries in Vendor Village. We might be a little biased, but enjoying stunning art and Italian gelato on a hot summer day sounds like paradise. Vendors will have their best designs and wines on display for your viewing and tasting pleasure.
Expert tip: If you find a piece you want to display in your home, don’t hesitate to ask us about mounting paintings and fitting them into your home design for the maximum effect.
5. Festa Italiana Celebration
Travel slightly south of Cleveland for the 10th Annual Festa Italiana in Cuyahoga Falls. Activities include live music, delicious authentic foods, grape stomping, art displays and a bocce tournament! For a truly authentic experience, mark your calendars for July 20th to the 22nd.
6. Youngstown Italian Festival
If you’re really feeling the Italian summer vibe, visit the 33rd Annual Youngstown Italian Festival August 3rd, 4th and 5th. The festival attracts over fifty thousand people each year and spans four city blocks. Activities include over forty different food and wine vendors, beauty pageants, a Morra tournament and a homemade wine contest.
In the summertime, routine can be exciting! It’s like a never-ending celebration of the season. As summer heats up, so do the weekly events that everyone can look forward to.
7. Walnut Wednesdays
Every Wednesday at the Perk Plaza in Downtown Cleveland, get ready to get your grub on! Each week will feature a plethora of food trucks along with live music. The trucks change weekly, so there is zero chance of your palate becoming bored! It’s also the perfect date night or excuse for a picnic in the park.
8. Take A Hike
Have you ever wondered about the history of our hometown? With the first survey completed in 1796, Cleveland has an abundance of stories to tell. Why not learn it from an actor/actress dressed as a historic figure? Every week during the summer, exercise your brains and bodies by taking a walking tour of the city. The dates range from May until September and there is no ticket price!
“For one day only”
9. Light Up the Lake
The Flats East Bank is the place to be on the 4th of July! With eleven different viewing spots, everyone will have an amazing view of spectacular fireworks over Lake Erie. Make sure to pack a picnic and bring a blanket—this event will have you arriving early and never wanting to leave.
10. National Day of Dance
Come celebrate the National Day of Dance at Playhouse Square. There will be barre classes, free dance lessons, performances and a “So You Think You Can Dance” sponsored competition. Even if you weren’t graced with rhythm, it is guaranteed to be a blast!
